At this time of year, the weather in San Diego is perfect. Full, sunny days that give us a preview of what’s in store in for the summer months up ahead, despite the looming June-gloom. In the spirit of celebrating these delicious days while we have them, why not tempt ourselves with thoughts of summer. Juan put together a summer soundtrack full of throwbacks. Here’s what he had to say about it…

When I think of May, it reminds me that summer is around the corner and I start getting excited for those sunny days of gatherings to come. The thought of friends starting to arrive, hugs and high fives are taking place, the sound of the beer bottles opening, the smell of the meat on the grill, and the speakers booming.

When I arrived at college in 1998 I thought I had a good idea of hip hop and rap, but I had a lot to learn. This is where I received an education of the classics! The ones that—to this day—take me back to hitting the dancefloor with that red solo cup of jungle juice sloshing all over the place. Nowadays, the red solo cup of jungle juice is replaced by a glass of chilled juicy red wine, but the spirit to let loose and move along with those beats and those rhymes is still there. Ain’t nothing but a g thang.
