IN THEIR OWN WORDS:

My passion for hospitality started when I began working in restaurants as a teenager. And even though I went to college to study other pursuits, my heart kept calling me back. To this day, I simply love being around people, serving them, and bringing them joy.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?

Most days I start early with some kind of exercise. I make breakfast for my beautiful wife Jackie, my son Marlow and daughter Veda. Then I'm off to work. Before you know it, I'm racing out to coach my kids' sports teams. Finally, we end up back around the dinner table to recap the day.

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION?

I'm inspired by my bad ass wife who takes care of me and my children every single day! And I'm always amazed by the passion and dedication of the people I work with.

FAVORITE MEMORY IN THE KITCHEN?

My fondest memories go back to when Juan and I used to prep and serve every meal from our original food truck. It was a grueling time, but it taught me the most about who I am and what I want to be.

RAPID FIRE

HAPPY HOUR SNACK: an IPA or dry rosé and a salty snack

BEST SKILL: problem solving

LAST THING YOU ATE: fried rice. I heart rice.

SCARIEST THING YOU’VE DONE: Created MIHO.

FAV CITY TO EAT IN: San Francisco

FAV RESTAURANT: Impossible question. Maybe Gjelina in Venice.

BIGGEST PIECE OF ADVICE EVER RECEIVED: From my neighbor who taught me how to paint: just be yourself, be present, be accepting.

WEIRDEST FOOD COMBO: My mom used to make various Chinese dishes and serve them to eat in a pita. Sounds weird but I loved it as a kid.
