Lexi & Colin
An ethereal blend of moody old-world charm and modern romanticism
Lexi and Colin's journey began during their college days when they casually met and shared a pizza, which sparked a connection that eventually blossomed into a deep and meaningful love.
Design
Lexi admits, “I had absolutely zero inspiration for my wedding other than I knew it wouldn't feel like “us” to be too traditional. Our only goal was to ensure our guests felt comfortable being enveloped in beauty and love.” Alex of Blush Event Designers led the creative with intentional elements that bore the mark of couture maximalism. Velvets met delicate fringes, metallics brushed against old-world wallpapers, creating a symphony of textures that added depth and grandeur. Adorned with unique wallpaper murals, the spaces became a transformative journey, leading guests from one enchanting moment to another. Opulent pinks and dusty blues created a visual harmony that was captivating.
Wedding Attire
Lexi looked stunning in two bridal gowns that perfectly matched her spirit. Her first dress was an elegant ivory Pronovias strapless gown from Archive Bridal. She wore a pearl-embellished veil and a family heirloom diamond necklace. Her second dress stole hearts: a custom knee-length satin ivory dress with a detachable bow, sheer back, and pockets, reflecting her modern, playful side. Paired with a ponytail, it was a perfect second look for dancing.
Colin, the groom, wore a classic tuxedo, exuding timeless charm. Together, they were a vision, flanked by their wedding party in sharp tuxedos and Jenny Yoo stretch-velvet gowns in bluestone.
The Venues
The event was held at three different venues with deep significance to their families. According to Lexi, “My husband was lucky enough to grow up in an area where all of his family members live within a five-minute drive from each other. We decided to host our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception at our family members’ homes. It was so special.”
The ceremony took place at a stunning modern home with incredible views. While another estate was transformed for the reception with a custom-built structure featuring open air ceilings, delicate fringes, sparkling chandeliers, colorful flowers and luxurious velvet drapes. It was meaningful for Lexi and Colin to share their vows and wedding celebrations in their family’s homes.
The Ceremony
Set against the jaw-dropping view, Blush Botanicals designed an archway covered in Harrow & Fine wallpaper and covered it in dramatic florals. The aisle was custom-built in the color palette featuring the bluestone color woven throughout the wedding design.
Lexi and Colin kept their wedding ceremony traditional. Prior to the ceremony, the couple shared personal vows privately, which was a moment they both cherished deeply.
The ceremony was enhanced by a string quartet and the soul-stirring sound of bagpipes. This beautiful tribute to their family heritage, a tradition passed down through generations, added a profound depth to their union. The couple reflects, “Colin’s mother is Scottish. Her father played the bagpipes for years and her mother loved to cook huge meals for the entire pipe band. Colin’s father learned to play the bagpipes to impress his new father-in-law. The groom fondly remembers attending the Scottish Highland Games in his childhood. As every Scottish family would, we knew we had to have a bagpiper at the wedding!”
Lexi walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to “In My Life” by the Beatles. And a getaway Porsche roadster took the couple to their wedding reception in style. Lexi reflects, “At the ceremony, people raved about the gold leafed caviar and champagne upon arrival.”
Cocktail Hour
Cocktail hour was hosted in the family’s backyard, offering gorgeous panoramic views. MIHO served array small bites like lobster toast and lamb tartare and grazing stations. Lexi shared, “The food at our wedding was so good, but people still talk about the raw bar!”
The cocktail menu was equally captivating, featuring signature delights like '9 to 5,' a concoction of Cutwater Bourbon, apricot, pineapple, and demerara, and 'Libella Swing,' a refreshing blend of Cutwater Gin, lemon, sage, and sparkling wine. For non-alcoholic options, the 'Mocktail Soleil,' crafted with cucumber, pineapple, lemon, fennel, and soda, provided a burst of refreshing flavors.
The Reception
Upon entering the reception, guests were greeted by an open-air custom-built structure, hung with florals and fringe, and draped in velvet. The florals, a stunning display of various colors and textures, added a touch of natural elegance to the atmosphere. A five-tier pearl cake surrounded by flowers sat in the middle of the dance floor.
Against a backdrop of elegant long king tables adorned with vibrant florals and fruits, guests indulged in a curated menu by MIHO's Chef Rocio Siso-Gurriaran. The meal began with an Amuse-Bouche and full glasses of champagne and old-world wines. Each course that followed showcased culinary mastery, from the rich tomato braised short rib to the delicate seared Maine scallop. Lexi shares, “Our guests are still raving about the scallops. But I have to say the Mezze Luna pasta was my favorite, along with the duck confit tacos at the after-party.”
The reception dinner was an artful experience that went beyond regular dining. The fusion of flavors, design, and hospitality created an atmosphere that resonated with everyone present.
Desserts & After Party
Lexi and Colin's dessert selection was an array of flavors and textures. The 5-tiered cake, a masterpiece by Peggy Liao, featured layers of vanilla cake with passionfruit curd, dark chocolate cake with caramel nuts, and citrus olive oil cake with mixed berry jam. Just before cutting the cake, the bride's uncle and the groom's long-time family friend surprised the couple with a heartfelt performance of “Brown Eyed Girl”. This song was sung to the bride throughout her childhood and was a nod to her family. Another highlight from the evening was the groom cutting the cake with a family heirloom, an antique sword from his father.
MIHO offered small bite desserts including Meyer lemon shortcake, pine nut nutella, hand pie with apricot & rhubarb compote, and a donut hole filled with kuri squash custard. A delicious way to finish dinner.
Their after party took place in the speak-easy. MIHO served up nachos and duck confit tacos. It was a merging of lives, a relaxed yet lively affair where guests felt truly celebrated.
Advice to future couples:
When planning, Lexi shares, “Hire MIHO. Don’t be afraid to be honest, especially if you trust your team. My version of honesty was admitting, ‘I don’t have a vision… I need you to create one for me’, and they exceeded my wildest expectations.”
Lexi also shares how important music is during the reception, “I wanted to dance to all my favorite songs on my wedding night, and I wish I had requested more from a specific setlist.”
Special Shoutouts:
From the bride, “MIHO was incredible - I felt so supported by them. Alex and our floral team at Blush blew my mind! Our photographer, Brian Miller, was such a calming presence for us. And our videography team, SharkPig, kept us laughing and present in the moment. We will eternally be grateful for their advice, compassion, and friendship.”
