The weather finally turned and it’s officially summer, and not just here in San Diego. I spent last week swimming in Washington’s chilly lakes, eating oysters and drinking albarino after a ten mile hike in the tall trees and perfecting a corn dip we shared on the dock while our feet dangled in the water. And man, I felt like a kid again with that vacation smile, those vacation eyes. Sticky sunscreen skin, watermelon juice running down our forearms. Finishing novels, playing dice, and laughing with friends as we finish off another bottle of wine and yawning as the sun starts to go down. Summer makes us young. Full of daylight. Full of play.
